Lil Uzi Vert:
Large Skull

Client: M99 Studios
Services Provided: Design, Machining, Fabrication

Lil Uzi Vert’s 3-month-long tour needed a skull as the stage’s centerpiece. It needed to fit a DMX controlled fog machine, it had to be lightweight so that it could be craned up from the ceiling, and had to fit within a box truck. The project took 11 days from start to finish.

A 3D model was made to accurately fit the skull in the box truck.

We provided miniature models for the client to approve

To lift the skull only using stage motors, we opted to have two secure pick points. The tension cables were rated at 10x the weight of the skull to ensure proper safety.

Using laser levels, we determined the angles and spread of the fog machine, without having the finished skull.

We used projection mapping onto the foam blocks to sculpt the skull accurately and create the proper modeled proportions.

The top portion of the skull had a permanent steel frame inside to be lifted up by the motors and the bottom frame was welded in a way to make it easily transportable onto the stage.
