Tim Burton:
UFOs

Client: Tim Burton and The Neon Museum
Services Provided: Design, Fabrication, Installation

The Neon Museum had specifications that the client needed to navigate around. The pre-visualizations that we created included other surrounding art pieces in order to see the final sculpture in context.

The lights were programmed to be synced to create the illusion of moving toward the audience.

Because we needed to develop the characters and make multiple revisions, our preferred material had to be easily malleable. We chose clay for the initial models.

In conjunction with the clay models, the other portions were created in CAD drawing to meet the specific height restriction within 1/4” tolerance.

The final sculptures were created out of a strong two-part epoxy that was water-proof and easy to get a high-finish durable finish.

Due to their height, the bent steel legs had to be assembled on-site in sections. This required our team to use an extension boom lift to weld and finish the outer finish details.
